Not if it’s a loan to your company. Explore three everyday examples and see how the books change.
Enter an amount from €0.01 to €1,000,000, using at most two decimal places.
Educational examples only. No VAT, tax relief or currency conversion is calculated. The real treatment depends on your documents and circumstances.
The company receives €500 and owes you €500. Repaying that loan later is not a second expense.

ONE STEP AT A TIME
Choose where you are today. This is an orientation guide for an Irish private company limited by shares (LTD), not a completed filing checklist for every business.

SMALL DOESN’T MEAN LESS IMPORTANT

Start here when the terminology gets in the way. These are general explanations, not a decision about your company’s tax position.
Read Revenue’s record-keeping guideBookkeeping records what happened, supported by evidence. Accounts organise those records into financial statements. Tax preparation applies the relevant tax rules; filing sends the required return to the relevant authority. A balanced spreadsheet is not, on its own, a completed tax return.
Not every small company must appoint an accountant to prepare its books. Audit requirements are a separate question. Directors remain responsible for adequate records and compliant financial statements, even where audit exemption applies. Eligibility must be checked, and complex situations can need qualified advice.
Check CRO audit-exemption guidanceNot necessarily. A documented founder loan creates an amount the company owes you. Share capital is different again. Neither should automatically be recorded as customer income. Keep the evidence explaining the purpose of the transfer.
Don’t assume that having no sales means having no obligations. Registration depends on the company’s activities. Buying services from overseas can create VAT questions, and paying anyone can create employer obligations. Check your actual circumstances with Revenue or an appropriately qualified adviser.
Revenue guidance on services received from abroadNo. CRO deals with company incorporation and company filings. Revenue deals with tax registration and returns. RBO records beneficial ownership. Completing one does not complete the others, and the company’s own internal records also need to be maintained.
Not at this stage. Future filing tools would need validated calculations, supported filing formats, appropriate access and your explicit approval. No return, incorporation or payment can be submitted from this website. We are not claiming Revenue or CRO approval or affiliation.
Start with your incorporation and share records, original invoices and receipts, bank statements, details of company costs paid personally, and any registration correspondence. Keep dates and explanations. Don’t mix personal and company spending or invent an opening balance to make a report balance.

IRELAND FIRST. A WIDER AMBITION.
Our longer-term aim is guided business setup and bookkeeping across more countries, with conversational help. Each country needs its own reviewed sources, supported business types and tested rules—not a one-size-fits-all answer.
General Irish LTD setup guidance, official-source links and simplified bookkeeping examples. No live filing or personalised tax advice.
A future ChatGPT-connected assistant could explain records, ask for missing facts and cite the rule it relies on. Calculations and submissions would use separate, tested tools and owner approval.
No other country is supported yet. Before adding one, we would verify local requirements, effective dates, filing access, data rights and where professional review is required.
START SMALL. BUILD WITH CONFIDENCE.
